IAIDO: The Art of the Samurai through Japanese Swordsmanship

Iaido (pronounced ee-eye-do) is the traditional martial art of Japanese swordsmanship. The kata’s practiced have evolved from battlefield techniques of feudal Japan.

Practice centers on learning the formal sword drawing and cutting solo forms as well as paired partner forms. Training starts with use of Bokken (wooden sword) and plastic saya and advances to Iaito ( metal practice swords) and beyond and develops strength, focus, awareness, balance and calmness of spirit.

Iaito (training swords) are optional if owned, otherwise beginners may borrow or purchase wooden training weapons.
